The Bhutan Tour Package covers the western valleys – Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha – finishing with the hike to Taktsang Monastery, the Tiger’s Nest, clinging to a cliff 900 metres above the valley floor. Indian citizens travel on a permit rather than a visa, with a Sustainable Development Fee payable per night. Roads are winding, so we keep driving days short. Best months are March to May and September to November.
(Day 1- Paro to Thimphu) – Arrival at Paro International Airport or the Phuentsholing land border, permit formalities, and travel to Thimphu.
Hotel check in and freshen up, evening walk around Thimphu town and the clock tower square. Overnight stay in hotel.
(Day 2- Thimphu)- After breakfast, full day sightseeing, the Great Buddha Dordenma statue, Memorial Chorten, Tashichho Dzong, National Folk Heritage Museum, Takin Preserve, and the Handicrafts Emporium. Overnight stay in hotel.
(Day 3- Thimphu to Punakha)- After breakfast, check out and travel to Punakha across the Dochula Pass with its 108 chortens and Himalayan views, visiting Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple, on the way. Hotel check in, overnight stay in Punakha.
(Day 4- Punakha to Paro)- After breakfast, visiting Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, and the Punakha suspension bridge, then travel to Paro. Hotel check in, evening free. Overnight stay.
(Day 5- Tiger’s Nest Hike)- After early breakfast, drive to the base and hike up to Taktsang Monastery, the Tiger’s Nest, allowing four to five hours for the round trip with a cafeteria stop, ponies available for the ascent. Return to hotel, evening rest. Overnight stay.
(Day 6- Paro)- After breakfast, sightseeing covering Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum, Kyichu Lhakhang, and the Drukgyel Dzong ruins with Mount Jomolhari views. Evening free for shopping. Overnight stay in hotel.
(Day-7 Departure)- After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drop at Paro International Airport or the border point for your return journey.
